What's body image
Defined as "mental image"
Of someone's body"
Perception one has
Of his/her physical self
And the subsequent
Thoughts and feelings
That come about- but what does
This mean for my life?
NEDA states that this
Relates to beliefs about
One's own appearance
Past, present, future
All play roles in how one feels
And affects actions
If I hate myself
Or loathe my body, why would I
Want to be healthy?
By accepting me
For who I am- not only
Externally, but
Appreciating
My internal qualities
Will help sense of self
Realizing that
A number on the scale or
Mirror image is
Partial depiction
Superficial, incomplete
Does not define real me
How can I improve
Self-confidence and acceptance?
Positive thinking
Reflect on values
Practice kindness, compassion
Toward self, others
Do what I enjoy
Because I want to- not have to
Rest when it's needed
Spend time with people
Who support me; treat me well
Respect who I am
Repeat this daily
Remember what body does
Facilitates life
